acupuncture
what to expect during your first visit...

+ your first visit is an opportunity to discuss in detail any aspect of your health that is a concern to you!

+ a thorough review of your current symptoms and medical history will be reviewed.

+ treatment consists of the use of very fine, sterile, single use needles inserted to acupuncture points based on traditional chinese medicine diagnostic principles.  needles are retained for 20 - 45 minutes.

+ it is common to become very relaxed during treatment.  sensations most commonly felt during needling are:  warmth, tingling and heaviness.

+ additional therapy such as:  cupping, gua-sha, massage, moxibustion may be added to treatment as needed.  [see descriptions below for more details.]

+ a treatment plan will be developed after the initial visit to determine how many acupuncture sessions are appropriate for your specific needs.

+ initial office visit is 90 minutes.  follow up visits are 45-60 minutes.

california tune-up | 60.
if you are a 'beginner' to acupuncture, this is the perfect treatment for you!!  it is also a great treatment for the seasoned acupuncture patient because the treatment consists of 5 of what are considered to be the most influential acupuncture points on the body.  the california tune-up is like hitting a 'reset' button for your body and this 30 minute session will leave you feeling relaxed and restored.

cupping | 60.
specialized glass cups are suctioned to the skin to help reduce inflammation and muscle tension.  the cupping method promotes circulation, decreases tension, diminishes swelling and pain in the tissue.  great for congestion from colds/flu, relieve pain from stiffness/injury.  cupping may be added to an acupuncture treatment when appropriate at no additional charge.  an individual cupping session is 30 minutes.

gua-sha
 [gwah - shaw]
gua-sha is a fantastic way to relieve pain from muscle soreness/tension.  a smooth flat edged instrument is used to apply short or long strokes  along the skin.  gua sha is very effective in the treatment of tendonitis, plantar fascitis, eliminating scar tissue and many more acute/chronic pain syndromes.  gua-sha may be added to an acupuncture treatment when needed at no additional charge.

moxibustion
[moxa]
moxibustion treats disease and can help boost immunity by applying heat with a moxa stick to points on the body.  moxa is made of the dried herb mugwort, a species of chrysanthemum.  moxa is great for treating digestive disorders, allergies, pain/soreness, brain fog, boost energy and much more.  will be used in an acupuncture session when applicable.
